Graduate School of Dentistry of the University of Osaka and Korean Dental Education Association Hold Joint Symposium.

The Graduate School of Dentistry at the University of Osaka hosted a joint symposium with the Korean Dental Education Association (KDEA) on Friday, August 1, 2025. The KDEA is comprised of deans and vice-deans from eleven dental schools in Korea and is dedicated to enhancing and advancing dental education in the country. This symposium was held to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations between Japan and Korea.
The joint symposium commenced with opening remarks by Professor Youn-Hee Choi, Chairperson, KDEA, Dean, School of Dentistry, Kyungpook National University, followed by a welcoming address from Professor Kazuhiko NAKANO, Dean, the Graduate School of Dentistry at the University of Osaka. Professor Young Soo Jung, Dean of the College of Dentistry at Yonsei University, then presented on dental education in Korea, followed by a presentation on dental education in Japan by Professor Takayoshi SAKAI, Director of the Administration Center for Dental Education. A productive discussion ensued, exploring the current status, challenges, and future directions of dental education in Japan and Korea.”
Following the symposium, KDEA participants toured the Division for Oral Dental Informatics and the Center for Translational Dental Research at the University of Osaka Dental Hospital, expressing great interest in the advanced facilities and research being conducted.
This symposium is expected to strengthen collaboration between dental education institutions in Japan and Korea, contributing to the future development of dental education.
